Dubai enforces strict restrictions on heavy vehicle movement during peak hours and on specific roads. Trucks, trailers, and heavy commercial vehicles are banned from certain roads and during certain time windows to reduce congestion and improve road safety. Dubai’s Heavy Vehicle Restrictions

The RTA Dubai restricts heavy vehicle movement on major roads during peak traffic hours — typically morning and evening rush periods. Certain roads are completely banned for heavy vehicles at all times. These restrictions apply to trucks, trailers, tankers, and heavy commercial vehicles above specified weight thresholds.

When You Need a Banned Times Exemption Permit

• Concrete delivery trucks that must pour during specific time windows regardless of traffic restrictions
• Crane mobilisation that can only happen during daylight hours which overlap with banned periods
• Emergency equipment delivery to a construction site on a restricted road
• Abnormal load transport that must travel at low speed and cannot use alternative routes
• Construction supply deliveries to projects in restricted zones such as Downtown, DIFC, or Dubai Marina

What the RTA Requires for Exemption

• Justification explaining why the movement cannot take place outside banned hours or on alternative routes
• Vehicle details — type, weight, dimensions, registration
• Proposed route and timing
• Duration of the exemption needed — single trip, recurring, or project-duration
• Any safety measures required during the movement
