TMA Night Work Visibility Checklist Dubai
Night road works reduce visibility and make it harder for approaching drivers to identify work-zone changes early. A Truck Mounted Attenuator used at night should be checked not only for mechanical readiness, but also for lighting, conspicuity, positioning, communication, and integration with the approved traffic-management layout.
HMJ Contracting provides TMA rental and road-safety support for Dubai projects.
1. Check Vehicle Lighting Before Deployment
Before entering the work zone, confirm that required vehicle lights, indicators, warning beacons, and illuminated equipment are functioning correctly. Any failed lamp or damaged warning device should be addressed before mobilisation.
2. Review Rear Visibility
The rear of the TMA vehicle should remain clearly visible to approaching traffic. Check that reflective markings, warning panels, and any arrow or message equipment are clean, unobstructed, and functioning.
3. Confirm the Approved Position
Night conditions can make distances harder to judge. The operator and supervisor should confirm the intended TMA position using the approved plan and site conditions rather than relying on visual estimation alone.
4. Avoid Glare and Conflicting Light Sources
Temporary lighting should illuminate the work area without creating glare that hides signs, workers, or the TMA. Check for competing lights from construction plant, nearby properties, or temporary equipment.
5. Confirm Communication With the Work Crew
Night operations require clear communication between the TMA operator, supervisor, and work crew. Confirm the radio or phone channel, movement instructions, stopping points, and emergency procedure before work starts.
6. Recheck Visibility During the Shift
Conditions can change because of dust, weather, moving equipment, damaged signs, or relocated plant. A visual check should be repeated when the work zone changes or after equipment is moved.
For general preparation, see the TMA deployment checklist and TMA vehicle Dubai guide.
