TMA Operator Daily Safety Checks Dubai
A Truck Mounted Attenuator is only effective when the vehicle, attenuator system, warning equipment and operator are ready for the planned work activity. A short daily safety review before deployment helps identify defects, communication gaps and site issues before the TMA enters a live work zone.

1. Vehicle Condition
Before mobilisation, check the base vehicle for obvious defects that could affect safe operation. Review:
- Tyres and visible wheel condition
- Lights and indicators
- Mirrors and cameras
- Braking response
- Fuel level
- Warning beacons
- Reversing alarm where fitted
2. Attenuator System
The attenuator should be inspected according to the manufacturer’s instructions and project requirements. Check for:
- Visible damage
- Loose or missing components
- Correct deployment position
- Secure mounting points
- Reflective markings
- Any warning indicators or faults
After any impact, the equipment should be removed from normal service until its condition has been properly assessed.
3. Arrow Board and Warning Equipment
Where an arrow board, VMS or warning lights form part of the approved arrangement, confirm that they operate correctly and are clearly visible.
4. Communication With the Work Crew
The operator should know:
- Work-zone location
- Planned movement
- Start and stop instructions
- Supervisor contact
- Emergency communication method
- Approved traffic-management arrangement
5. TMA Positioning
The TMA should be positioned according to the approved site plan and operational instructions. Do not rely on a generic distance for every site. Road speed, work activity, geometry and approved drawings affect the required arrangement.
See our TMA deployment checklist Dubai for a wider site-planning review.
6. Shift Records
A simple daily record should note:
- Date and shift
- Vehicle identification
- Operator name
- Inspection result
- Defects found
- Corrective action
- Project or location
7. Stop Work When Conditions Change
If the approved arrangement cannot be maintained because of visibility, traffic conditions, equipment failure or site changes, the team should stop and reassess before continuing.
