After work inside the public Right of Way is completed, reinstatement quality should be checked before the area is treated as ready for closeout. The inspection should compare the final condition with the approved scope and identify defects that could affect public use or future permit closure.

1. Confirm the Reinstated Area
Verify that the full affected work zone has been restored, including any temporary access, excavation limits or disturbed edges.
2. Inspect Surface Condition
Check pavements, verges, road surfaces and other reinstated areas for visible defects, settlement or uneven finishes.
3. Check Levels and Transitions
Review changes in level at kerbs, footpaths, entrances and tie-in points to reduce trip or vehicle-interface issues.
4. Confirm Utility Features
Ensure covers, chambers, markers and visible utility features are correctly positioned and accessible.
5. Review Edges and Boundaries
Inspect joints between new and existing surfaces and verify that site boundaries are clean and complete.
6. Take Final Photographs
Keep clear photographs of the completed area, including key access points and reinstated surfaces.
7. Record Outstanding Defects
List any remaining defect, assign responsibility and confirm closure before final handover.
