Why TMA Deployment Is Mandatory on Dubai Roads

The RTA mandates TMA deployment on any road works project where workers are present on or adjacent to live traffic lanes above a specified speed threshold. This mandate exists because the consequences of a vehicle entering an unprotected work zone at 80–120 km/h are almost always fatal. How a TMA Works

The TMA is mounted on the rear of a heavy truck — the shadow vehicle — that follows directly behind the work crew on the live road. If an errant vehicle approaches from behind, it strikes the TMA rather than the workers. The attenuator device crushes progressively on impact, absorbing and dissipating the kinetic energy over a controlled distance.
