Right of Way works often interact with existing utilities, access routes and other project activities. Before a ROWPS submission or site mobilisation, contractors should confirm that proposed works do not conflict with known services or adjacent work limits.

1. Confirm the Latest Utility Information

Use the latest available project information and survey references. Avoid relying on old sketches or superseded drawings.

2. Compare Utility Information With Work Limits

Check the proposed excavation, access, equipment and reinstatement areas against utility locations and the public Right of Way boundary.

3. Identify Potential Conflicts

Typical conflicts may involve:

• Existing ducts or pipelines
• Drainage routes
• Street furniture
• Existing access points
• Adjacent contractors
• Temporary traffic-management equipment

4. Coordinate Drawings and Method Statements

The same work limits and constraints should appear consistently across engineering drawings, traffic-management plans and method statements.

5. Record Actions and Responsibilities

Create a simple conflict register showing the issue, responsible party, required action and current status.

6. Recheck Before Mobilisation

Site conditions can change after approval. Review critical interfaces again before excavation or installation begins.
