The end of a crane erection lift is not necessarily the end of road occupation. Support vehicles, lifting accessories and the mobile crane may still need time and space to leave. Plan demobilisation as a separate stage when coordinating an RTA road closure or traffic diversion for crane erection in Dubai.
Define what must leave and when
Ask the erection and lifting teams for the recovery sequence, including support vehicles and any transport needed for equipment. Identify which movements require the work area to remain controlled. The competent crane team determines technical recovery methods and equipment limitations. The traffic programme should use those confirmed inputs rather than estimating technical durations independently.
Check exit movements against the layout
A vehicle that entered before assembly may face a different site arrangement when leaving. Review the exit route against remaining components, temporary barriers and adjacent activities. Confirm the intended departure direction and any interface with public access. Do not assume the arrival layout can be reversed without review or that a departure manoeuvre is covered by an unrelated transport permission.
Agree handback responsibilities
Identify who confirms completion of equipment recovery, who checks that the public route is clear and who coordinates restoration of normal access within the project team. Record any required authority involvement under the applicable conditions. Keep the lifting completion record distinct from the traffic handback record because they confirm different parts of the operation.
Plan for an incomplete recovery
Consider how the team will escalate a delayed vehicle or an item that cannot be removed within the planned window. Identify the responsible contact and the point at which an updated decision is needed. Do not treat remaining traffic equipment as permission to extend road occupation. Confirm the appropriate authority process if the agreed scope or timing can no longer be met.
Complete the final checks
The responsible team should inspect the occupied area for obstructions, debris and damage and check the restored access arrangement against the applicable instructions. Record outstanding actions and supporting photographs where appropriate. Send HMJ the erection programme, recovery sequence, exit layout and permit information to scope traffic diversion support through demobilisation. A coordinated handback plan helps avoid a gap between crane completion and actual road reopening.
