A simple mobilisation and demobilisation process helps the TMA team enter, operate and leave the work zone in a controlled way.

Before Mobilisation

Confirm the Project Brief

The operator and supervisor should know:

• Exact work location.
• Work window and expected duration.
• Approved traffic-management arrangement.
• TMA role in the work zone.
• Site contact and communication method.

The latest approved drawing should be available to the relevant site team.

Check Vehicle and Attenuator Readiness

Confirm the Travel Route

The mobilisation route should suit the vehicle size and project access point. Confirm where the TMA will wait if the work zone is not ready when it arrives.

Site Entry

Coordinate Entry With the Traffic Team

A TMA should not enter a live setup independently when cones, signs or barriers are still being arranged. The entry sequence should be coordinated with the supervisor and other traffic-management vehicles.

Verify the Intended Position

Before work begins, compare the actual position against the approved arrangement and current site condition. If the work zone has changed, stop and confirm the correct setup rather than improvising.

During the Shift

Record any issue that could affect demobilisation, including:

• Equipment damage.
• Roadside obstruction.
• Change in access route.
• Shift extension.
• Incident or near miss.

Demobilisation

Confirm the Work Area Is Ready to Close

The TMA should remain in its protective role until the relevant workers and equipment have been cleared according to the site sequence.

Remove Equipment in the Correct Order

Demobilisation should be coordinated with signs, barriers, cones and other vehicles so that protection is maintained while the work zone is being removed.

Complete the Handover Record

Record:

• Time of departure.
• Vehicle and attenuator condition.
• Any defects or damage.
• Fuel or maintenance requirement.
• Project issues for the next shift or deployment.
