TMA Shift Handover Checklist Dubai

A Truck Mounted Attenuator may operate across multiple shifts on the same project. A clear handover between operators helps prevent missed defects, incorrect positioning, incomplete communication and confusion about changes in the work zone.

1. Confirm Vehicle Condition

The outgoing operator should report any issue observed during the shift, including:

  • Tyres and wheels
  • Brakes and steering
  • Warning lights
  • Mirrors and cameras
  • Fuel level
  • Any unusual noise or vibration

Do not assume the next operator will notice a developing problem immediately.

2. Review the Attenuator System

Record the visible condition of the attenuator and its mounting points. Any contact, impact, deformation or unusual movement should be reported before the next deployment.

3. Confirm Warning and Visibility Equipment

Check the status of:

  • Arrow board
  • Beacons
  • Work lights
  • Reflective markings
  • Rear warning panels

Night shifts and changing weather conditions can make visibility checks especially important.

4. Explain the Current Work-Zone Arrangement

The incoming operator should know:

  • Exact work location
  • Direction of travel
  • Approved TMA position
  • Planned movement of the crew
  • Lane or shoulder being used
  • Any temporary change made during the previous shift

5. Communicate Route and Access Constraints

If the TMA has a specific mobilisation route, staging point or access restriction, include it in the handover. Avoid relying on verbal assumptions when several crews use the same project site.

6. Record Incidents and Near Misses

Any incident, sudden braking event, unsafe driver behaviour, equipment contact or near miss should be included in the handover record. This helps the next operator understand the current risk profile.

7. Confirm Communications

Verify the correct radio channel, supervisor contact and emergency communication method before the next shift begins.

8. Sign Off the Handover

A simple written or digital checklist should identify the outgoing and incoming operators, time of handover and any outstanding issue requiring action.
