3. Assign Location References

Use simple location references so the site team can identify each sign consistently. This is especially useful on long diversion routes or projects with several junctions.

4. Record Deployment Status

The register should show whether each sign has been installed, relocated, removed, replaced or is still pending. Avoid relying only on verbal updates between shifts.

5. Track Condition

Record damaged, dirty, faded or unstable signs. A sign may be in the correct location but still fail to communicate clearly if its condition is poor.

6. Link Changes to Drawing Revisions

If the diversion arrangement changes, update the register to match the latest approved drawing or authorised site instruction. Old sign schedules should be clearly marked as superseded.

7. Include Daily Verification

8. Close the Register at Demobilisation

At the end of the diversion, record sign removal and return status. This helps identify missing equipment and provides a clean project closeout record.
