AC Replacement Dubai: Comparing RTA Road Closure and Access Options
Before fixing an AC replacement date, compare the access arrangements available for delivery and lifting. An RTA Road closure may be part of the proposal, but it should follow a site-specific assessment. It is not a standard requirement for every replacement and it cannot be avoided simply by describing the job as a short lift.
Build an options sheet before choosing a position
Ask the lifting specialist to identify feasible equipment positions based on the actual unit and building. Then ask the traffic team to assess how each option interacts with public movement. A position that appears convenient for unloading may create a conflict with a building entrance or leave no workable delivery route.
Use the same inputs when comparing options: confirmed unit information, selected equipment details, site geometry, delivery vehicle and proposed work stages. Changing these assumptions between options can make an unsuitable arrangement appear preferable.
Compare the whole operation
- Within the site: review whether delivery, setup and operation remain inside the verified boundary.
- Temporary ROW occupation: identify any footpath, parking or roadside space affected.
- Lane or road closure: assess the traffic movement and alternative access affected by the proposal.
These are planning scenarios, not pre-approved permit categories. The relevant authority route must be confirmed from the chosen arrangement. A contractor’s preferred option should remain labelled “proposed” until the required reviews and approvals are complete.
Record why an option was rejected
A short decision register helps when the equipment supplier or client changes the brief. Record the position considered, the verified constraint, the person responsible for the assessment and the date. Avoid unsupported statements such as “too narrow”; refer to the measured layout and the specialist’s actual finding.
For example, an option might keep the lifting vehicle within the site while its arrival still affects the public entrance. That interface needs separate review. This is a hypothetical coordination example, not a claim that a particular site can proceed without a permit.
Move the selected option into the permit brief
Carry the selected location, access arrangement and work stages into the drawing package. Include removal of the old unit and departure of the delivery vehicle so the brief covers the full occupation period. Review our AC installation and replacement permit guide and ROW application support to coordinate the next step.
Official service reference and project enquiry
Check the current RTA service for temporary occupation of part of the Right-of-Way against your proposed scope. Confirm the applicable route before starting public-space occupation.
