Crash Cushion Temporary Protection During Replacement Dubai
When a crash cushion is damaged or removed for replacement, the protected hazard can become exposed again. The project team should manage the temporary condition carefully until a suitable replacement system is installed and accepted.
HMJ Contracting supplies and coordinates crash cushion systems for Dubai road works. Call +971 50 778 9046.
1. Control the Immediate Area
After damage is identified, protect the area from further exposure and prevent normal traffic from entering an unsafe temporary arrangement.
2. Identify the Exposed Hazard
Confirm exactly what the crash cushion was protecting, such as a barrier end or rigid roadside object. The temporary response should be based on that hazard and the live traffic environment.
3. Review the Approved Traffic Arrangement
Check the current traffic-management drawing and determine whether temporary traffic-control changes are required while replacement is being arranged.
4. Use Suitable Interim Protection
Any interim protection should be selected by the competent project team and coordinated with the approved work-zone arrangement. Do not assume that cones or signs alone replace the function of an impact-protection system.
5. Plan Replacement Access
Confirm delivery, lifting, installation and work-zone access so the replacement can be completed without creating additional conflicts.
6. Inspect the Replacement Installation
After installation, check position, alignment, visibility, surrounding barriers and site condition before normal traffic arrangements resume.
7. Keep Incident and Handover Records
Retain photographs, damage reports, replacement details and final acceptance records.
