Highway Closure vs Standard Road Closure

Highway closures involve higher traffic speeds, greater traffic volumes, and more complex diversion requirements than standard road closures. The RTA requires highway-rated TMA units, MASH TL-3 certified crash cushions, longer advance warning distances, and more detailed diversion plans. Night-only closures are standard for most highway works to minimise traffic disruption.
