TMA Requirements Dubai – RTA Standards for Truck Mounted Attenuators

The RTA sets specific TMA requirements for all road works projects in Dubai. Using a TMA that does not meet these requirements — or deploying it incorrectly — creates a compliance failure that can result in project shutdown, fines, and liability exposure. HMJ Contracting provides TMAs that meet all RTA requirements with trained operators who understand the deployment standards. Call +971 50 778 9046.

Impact Rating Requirements

The TMA must be rated for the speed of the road it is deployed on. For highways and expressways (80–120 km/h), highway-rated units are mandatory — see our highway TMA rental page. For urban roads (40–60 km/h), standard units may be acceptable. The impact rating must be documented in the equipment schedule submitted as part of the RTA NOC application.

Operator Requirements

The RTA requires trained TMA operators who understand positioning protocols, following distances, communication procedures with the work crew, and emergency response. HMJ includes trained operators on all full-service TMA rental packages.

Deployment Standards

  • TMA must be positioned at the correct following distance behind the work crew as specified in the approved traffic management plan
  • The TMA vehicle must be heavy enough to provide adequate ballast — typically 7.5 tonnes or above
  • Attenuator device must be fully extended and operational before works begin
  • Warning lights and beacons must be active during deployment
  • TMA must be inspected before each shift

Documentation Requirements

The NOC submission must include TMA specification sheets, impact test certification, and the operator’s qualification details. Drawings must show the exact TMA position to RTA standard.
