An RTA Road closure for Tower Crane Erection proposal should account for delivery vehicles leaving as well as arriving. Unloading a component does not necessarily make its trailer ready to depart, and a delayed departure can prevent the next planned vehicle from reaching the receiving position.
Define the release point
Ask the transport and lifting specialists to identify when the vehicle is available for departure. The traffic coordinator should receive a clear release confirmation from the responsible team, rather than infer readiness because the main component has been lifted away.
Separate this confirmation from the decision to release the next delivery. The receiving area may still be needed for equipment movements or preparation, even after the empty vehicle has left.
Review the exit using actual vehicle information
Confirm the intended departure route, vehicle configuration and site-gate constraints with the responsible specialists. Do not assume an empty trailer has a different turning requirement simply because its load has been removed. Any configuration change needs confirmed information before it is reflected in traffic planning.
- Identify the planned exit and affected public movements.
- Check whether the exit conflicts with the next delivery approach.
- Record the team responsible for movement coordination.
- Refer changed geometry or vehicle details for technical review.
Connect departure to the delivery sequence
Use a coordination record with the delivery reference, unloading status, release confirmation and departure status. Link it to the current drawing reference and the responsible contact. It should complement the transport and lifting procedures, not replace them.
If departure is delayed, notify the dispatch coordinator before the next vehicle is sent forward. An informal queue on a public road is not a substitute for a reviewed staging arrangement.
Check the authorised work window
Vehicle recovery belongs within the overall occupation plan. If a delay threatens the authorised period, escalate it for the appropriate review rather than assuming the closure can continue. The responsible team must assess the permit conditions and any required authority action.
Use our tower crane staging overview and multiple-supplier dispatch guide. HMJ can support Traffic Diversion for Crane Erection using the verified arrival and departure requirements.
