Tower crane components may need temporary space before assembly or lifting. A delivery plan can describe the arrival order while leaving the laydown area undefined. If components, support vehicles or handling operations extend into public space, the road-interface plan must address that footprint.
Read the main Traffic Diversion & RTA Permit for Tower Crane Erection Dubai guide for the wider service scope.
Create a component-space schedule
Ask the erection team which components require laydown, their dimensions and the sequence in which they will be used. Identify whether components arrive individually or together. The competent team must determine support and handling requirements; the traffic team should use those inputs to understand the boundary.
Separate storage from vehicle circulation
Show the receiving position, component area and remaining access on the same layout. A space allocated to a component cannot simultaneously be assumed available for trailer turning. Include the route used by empty vehicles and any support equipment that remains after unloading.
Review the longest occupied phase
The largest footprint may occur before the main lift, while several components and vehicles are present. Compare each phase rather than drawing only the final crane position. If road occupation changes by phase, make that change explicit in the programme and relevant drawing set.
Coordinate ROWPS and road closure scope
Review the proposed component area against the issued road limits and conditions. A road-closure arrangement for crane setup should not be assumed to permit additional roadside storage. Confirm the applicable approval route with the permit coordinator before using an altered area.
Manage an out-of-sequence delivery
For example, a jib component arriving before its receiving area is clear should trigger the agreed holding or rescheduling process. It should not be unloaded onto an unassessed verge. Record the receiving-area readiness decision and update subsequent call-forward instructions. This is an illustrative coordination scenario, not a completed project claim.
Permit coordination and project support
Use the official RTA Right-of-Way utilisation service to check the applicable service requirements. The required approval depends on the actual site and proposed work. RTA and ROWPS references here apply to Dubai; other UAE emirates have their own responsible authorities.
