Two crane erection traffic diversion quotations can have different totals because they cover different responsibilities. Before comparing prices for a Dubai project, define the road occupation arrangement and identify which services are included. A useful comparison separates planning and permit coordination from physical deployment, supervision and removal, while keeping the lifting contractor’s scope clear.
Issue the same project information
Provide each bidder with the location, proposed erection date, equipment layout, component delivery sequence and current frontage photographs. State whether drawings are preliminary or already approved. Identify affected roads, parking and pedestrian routes, along with known access restrictions. Ask bidders to identify missing information rather than silently pricing different assumptions about the same operation.
Separate the main cost categories
A comparison schedule can include survey or site review, traffic drawings, application coordination, response to review comments, equipment provision, installation, attendance and demobilisation. Identify authority fees separately where applicable. Ask who pays them and how they will be evidenced. Do not compare a coordination-only quotation directly with a package that includes on-site traffic equipment and crew.
Clarify time and change assumptions
Record the planned number of working windows and whether setup and removal are included in those hours. Ask how standby, postponed mobilisation, additional drawing revisions and a changed delivery sequence are treated. These are commercial questions to resolve before award, not reasons to assume extra charges are inevitable. Agree the notification and written approval process for changes.
Keep technical boundaries visible
The quotation should distinguish traffic management from crane supply, lifting design, rigging, ground assessment and transport services. Confirm who provides the technical inputs used in the traffic layout. No quotation should be interpreted as an authority approval or a guarantee of a road closure. The accepted scope and implementation arrangements remain subject to the competent authority’s review and the project’s safety responsibilities.
Compare deliverables and evidence
Use a matrix with columns for included, excluded, assumption and responsible party. Request the expected drawing deliverables, coordination responsibilities and handback records. For a practical HMJ quotation, send the common brief and flag unresolved permit or access questions. This makes it easier to assess traffic diversion support for crane erection on a consistent basis and to understand which tasks remain with your contractor team.
