A tower crane erection traffic plan can appear workable in isolation yet conflict with another construction site’s delivery route or lane closure. On busy Dubai streets, review the surrounding work zones before fixing the delivery and erection sequence. The aim is to identify shared public-space constraints early and bring them to the responsible parties for coordinated review.
Map the interfaces beyond the site boundary
Show nearby entrances, temporary pedestrian routes, current road restrictions and the proposed crane delivery approach. Use recent observations and available authorised information. Record the source and date of each external constraint because neighbouring arrangements can change. Do not assume an old photograph or a verbal assurance accurately represents the street on the erection date.
Look for overlapping demands
Potential conflicts include two projects using the same vehicle waiting location, opposite gates requiring turning movements at the same time or one diversion directing pedestrians toward another work zone. A component delivery may also need space that a neighbouring project expects to keep available. Describe the conflict in terms of time, location and affected movement so the issue can be reviewed precisely.
Assign coordination responsibilities
Create a contact list for the main contractor, lifting team, transport provider, traffic coordinator and relevant neighbouring project representative where available. Keep the authority coordination responsibility explicit. Agreement between contractors does not itself authorise a changed public traffic arrangement. Record which party will seek clarification or submit a revised proposal when an interface affects the approved scope.
Use a conflict register before mobilisation
For each conflict, note the proposed resolution, drawing reference, action owner and status. Possible proposals include revised sequencing or a different delivery arrangement, but they require review against the actual site and applicable approvals. Keep unresolved items visible at the readiness meeting. The lifting engineer remains responsible for the lift’s technical design; a traffic coordination meeting does not replace that work.
Check again close to the operation
Confirm that the observed street arrangement still matches the coordinated information before setting up. If another work zone has changed access or signs, escalate through the agreed process rather than extending boundaries informally. Provide HMJ with the erection layout, delivery sequence, current photographs and known neighbouring restrictions. This supports a clearer traffic diversion and RTA road occupation brief for tower crane erection in Dubai.
