An AC unit can reach a Dubai building successfully while the unloading operation remains unprepared. Delivery access and on-site road occupation answer different questions. The first concerns how the vehicle reaches and leaves the site. The second concerns the space used while unloading, positioning lifting equipment and protecting public movement. Review both before treating an AC installation programme as ready.
Draw the boundary between travel and work
Mark the delivery route to the site entrance and the actual stopping position. Then show the operating footprint separately: unloading vehicle, crane setup, support vehicles, work boundary and public access route. A vehicle parked inside a plot may still create an interface at the gate. Conversely, a delivery route review does not establish permission to occupy a public parking bay or lane during the lift.
Obtain vehicle-specific information
Ask the supplier for the intended vehicle configuration, dimensions, arrival direction and unloading method. Identify whether the old AC unit will leave on the same vehicle or requires another collection. Changes in trailer type or delivery orientation can affect turning space and unloading position. Do not assume a previously used access arrangement remains suitable when the equipment or transport configuration changes.
Coordinate the permit questions
Where the installation affects Dubai’s public right of way, review the appropriate RTA road occupation and traffic diversion scope. Separately ask the transport provider to confirm any permissions or route restrictions applicable to the actual vehicle and load. Requirements depend on the movement and location. Neither a transport document nor a building owner’s agreement should be treated as blanket approval for public road occupation.
Test the arrival-to-departure sequence
Use a sequence table with four stages: arrival, controlled entry, unloading and departure. For each stage, identify the occupied space, responsible person and route kept available. Consider an early arrival, delayed crane readiness or a blocked exit. Agree a lawful waiting arrangement in advance rather than allowing vehicles to queue wherever space appears available. The traffic arrangement should match the actual sequence submitted for review.
Prepare a coordinated brief
Send HMJ the location, proposed vehicle details, delivery schedule, lifting layout and photographs showing public roads, footpaths and parking. Include any available transport-provider comments and existing permit drawings. The output should be a consistent scope for AC installation traffic diversion and road occupation support, with unresolved transport questions clearly assigned to the responsible party.
