Concrete casting traffic diversion in Dubai should account for the period after the last mixer discharges. Pump recovery, equipment cleaning arrangements and vehicle departure can continue to occupy the frontage. A programme that ends at the final pour may leave insufficient time to return the road or footpath in the agreed condition. Plan handback as a distinct work stage.

Identify the cleaning arrangement before mobilisation

The concrete contractor should identify where cleaning and washout will occur, who provides containment and how material is collected and removed. Coordinate this with the project’s environmental and site management requirements. Do not assume a public gully, footpath or unused parking space is an acceptable washout location. Confirm that the proposed cleaning arrangement fits within the agreed site scope and does not extend the traffic footprint unexpectedly.

Keep equipment recovery on the programme

List the activities between completion of placing and departure of the last vehicle. These may include pump recovery, securing equipment, loading accessories and cleaning the working area. The equipment supplier should provide realistic sequencing inputs. Traffic planners can then assess when public routes remain affected. This guide does not set pump cleaning methods; those remain with the competent equipment and concrete teams.

Define the handback inspection

Assign responsibility for checking the occupied surface, pedestrian route, entrance crossings and temporary traffic equipment. Record any debris, spillage, damage or obstruction and the action required before release. Compare the area with pre-work photographs where available. If a defect remains, use the project’s escalation procedure and applicable permit conditions rather than removing protection simply because the planned completion time has arrived.

Remove controls in a coordinated sequence

The responsible traffic team should follow the approved arrangement and instructions for restoring access. Coordinate the last equipment movement with the reopening decision so an exit manoeuvre does not conflict with released traffic. Record who confirms equipment clearance, who checks the public route and who authorises the operational handback within the project team. Authority inspections or additional conditions may also apply.

Information for a concrete casting brief

Provide HMJ with the proposed pump position, mixer circulation, cleaning location, collection arrangements and estimated recovery duration. Include the permit window and any shared entrances. Reviewing these inputs early helps align traffic diversion support with the complete concrete casting operation, including loading, unloading and road handback. Completion timing remains dependent on site readiness and the applicable approvals.
