1. Confirm the Intended Interface

Review the approved drawing and system information to confirm what the crash cushion is protecting and how it connects or transitions to the adjacent barrier or hazard.

2. Check Alignment

The crash cushion should follow the intended approach and barrier alignment. A visible offset, skew or unexpected angle should be reviewed before the site is accepted.

3. Inspect Connections and Transitions

Where the system interfaces with a barrier, examine visible connections, transition pieces and adjacent components. Missing or loose elements should be reported for technical review.

4. Keep the Approach Path Clear

The area in front of the crash cushion should not be blocked by stored materials, parked vehicles, signs or temporary equipment that could interfere with the intended protection zone.

5. Check Surface and Support Conditions

Inspect the immediate installation area for settlement, damage or changes that could affect the system or adjacent barrier arrangement.

6. Verify Visibility

The crash cushion and the associated road layout should be visible to approaching traffic in the context of the approved traffic-management setup. Review any nearby signs, barriers or equipment that may obstruct sight lines.

7. Record the Final Condition

Take clear photographs of the crash cushion, barrier interface, approach area and surrounding work zone. Keep these with the project handover or inspection record.
